Recharge Any DTH Connection in Under a Minute
DTH recharge works differently from a mobile recharge: instead of a validity that starts when you pay, your set-top box runs on an account balance that the operator deducts a little every single day. Paybeez lets you look up your Tata Play, Dish TV, Airtel Digital TV, d2h or Sun Direct account, see the packs that are actually live for it right now, and pay through Bharat Connect (BBPS) so every payment carries a proper reference number. No stale price lists, no guesswork about which pack still exists.
Load your DTH packs
DTH packs are looked up against your subscriber ID rather than a phone number, so this step happens in your signed-in Paybeez account. Pick your operator, enter the ID, and the current pack list for that connection loads.
Recharging a prepaid mobile number needs no sign-in — do that here.

First, find your DTH ID — it is not your mobile number
Every DTH recharge starts with the operator's own account identifier, and each of the five major operators calls it something different and prints it in a different place. You can usually find it on-screen (Menu or the Home key, then Account / My Account / System Info), on your last paper or SMS receipt, or inside the operator's own app. Some operators also accept your registered mobile number as a lookup, but the account ID is always the safer input because it works even if the connection is registered in a family member's name.
- Tata Play — Subscriber ID, a 10-digit number. Shown under Menu > Help & Settings, on the Tata Play app home screen, and on every recharge SMS.
- Airtel Digital TV — Customer ID, a 10-digit number that starts with 3. Visible in the Airtel Thanks app under DTH, or on-screen in the account section.
- Dish TV — VC number (Viewing Card number), an 11-digit number printed on the viewing card itself and on the sticker on the set-top box. Your Subscriber ID also works.
- d2h — Customer ID / Viewer ID, printed on the box sticker and shown in the on-screen account menu. d2h and Dish TV sit under the same parent company but use separate account systems, so use the ID that came with your box.
- Sun Direct — Smart Card number or Customer ID, printed on the smart card and on the box. Keep it handy if you have more than one connection at the same address.
How to recharge your DTH on Paybeez, step by step
The flow is built so that you can check what a recharge will cost before you commit to anything. Nothing is deducted until you confirm the pack and complete the payment.
Browse the live packs for your operator here:
- Pick your operator — Tata Play, Dish TV, Airtel Digital TV, d2h or Sun Direct.
- Enter your Subscriber ID, Customer ID, VC number or Smart Card number and let Paybeez fetch the account.
- Check the name and account details that come back from the operator before you go further. If the name looks wrong, you almost certainly typed a digit wrong — DTH IDs are not validated by a checksum you can eyeball.
- Choose a pack, or enter the amount you want to add to the account balance. Long-term packs and monthly renewals appear separately where the operator supports them.
- Pay through Bharat Connect (BBPS) and save the receipt. It carries a reference number you can quote to either Paybeez or the operator.
DTH pack types, decoded
DTH pricing in India follows the TRAI tariff framework, which is why your bill is made of several parts rather than one flat number. Understanding the parts is the difference between overpaying every month and not.
- Base pack / broadcaster bouquet — the bundle of channels the operator or a broadcaster sells together. This is what most people mean by "my pack".
- NCF (Network Capacity Fee) — a separate carriage charge the operator levies for the number of channels on your connection, plus applicable taxes. It is why your monthly total is always higher than the channel prices you added up, and why trimming unwatched channels can actually reduce the bill.
- À-la-carte channels — individual channels added on top of a base pack at their published MRP. Useful when you want one sports or one regional channel and not the whole bouquet.
- Add-on packs — language, sports, movie, devotional or kids bundles layered over a base pack.
- HD and 4K packs — priced separately from the SD version of the same bouquet, and only worth paying for if your set-top box and TV actually support the format.
- Long-term packs — quarterly, half-yearly and annual options. Terms differ by operator and change often; whatever the operator is offering right now is what shows in the live pack list above.
- OTT add-ons — several operators bundle streaming subscriptions with the DTH account. Availability depends on your box generation, so it is shown per account rather than promised here.
What is different about each operator
These five operators are not interchangeable. The hardware, the pack naming and even the way suspension works vary, so a habit that works on one connection can catch you out on another.
- Tata Play — the largest DTH base in the country, with per-account custom packs alongside standard bouquets and OTT bundling on newer boxes. Recharges are keyed to the 10-digit Subscriber ID.
- Airtel Digital TV — sold alongside Airtel's broadband and mobile services, so many households have the DTH account bundled into a single Airtel relationship. If your DTH is part of a converged bundle, the DTH line item may already be covered — check before recharging separately.
- Dish TV — the oldest national DTH brand, built around the viewing card. The 11-digit VC number is the identifier that always works, including for older boxes that predate the current app.
- d2h — same parent company as Dish TV, but a distinct subscriber base and its own account numbers and pack lineup. Strong regional bouquet coverage across Hindi-belt and western markets.
- Sun Direct — the strongest South Indian footprint of the five, with deep Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam bouquets. If your household watches primarily South Indian channels, compare the regional-first packs before defaulting to a national bouquet.
Choosing the right pack — and how DTH balance actually works
This is the part most people get wrong. A DTH connection is not a prepaid mobile number. When you recharge, you are topping up an account balance, and the operator deducts your monthly pack cost pro-rata every day. If your balance runs below one day's charge, the signal drops and an error code appears on screen even though you "recharged last month".
- Recharge before the balance runs out, not on the day the screen goes blank. Check the running balance in the operator app or on the on-screen account page.
- Match the pack to what the household genuinely watches. Paying for a large national bouquet to get two channels is the single most common overspend on DTH.
- Count your connections. Additional set-top boxes at the same address are usually child connections billed on the same parent account, so recharging one box may not be enough — or may already cover all of them, depending on the operator.
- Only pay the HD or 4K premium if the box and the television both support it. An HD pack on an SD box changes nothing you can see.
- Long-term packs suit households that never change their channel mix; monthly suits anyone who reshuffles packs around a cricket season or a festival.
- Going away for a while? Every operator has a temporary suspension or safe-custody style option that pauses billing instead of letting the balance drain. Ask the operator before you stop recharging.
If a recharge fails or the TV still will not come on
Most DTH recharges reflect on the box within a few minutes, but two different things can go wrong and they need different fixes.
If the payment did not go through, no amount leaves your account and you can simply try again. If the amount was debited but the account has not updated, wait a short while first — operator confirmation is usually quick but can lag. Keep the Bharat Connect reference number from your receipt; it is the single identifier that lets Paybeez, your bank and the operator trace the same transaction. Where a payment is genuinely unsuccessful, the amount is reversed to the original payment method by your bank, and bank reversal timelines run in working days rather than minutes.
If the recharge has clearly gone through and the screen is still showing an error, the problem is probably not the payment. A blank or "no signal" screen during heavy rain, after a storm, or after someone moved the dish is a signal alignment issue, and no amount of recharging will fix it — that needs an operator technician visit.
- Keep the receipt and the Bharat Connect reference number for any follow-up.
- Do not recharge a second time immediately — you may end up crediting the account twice.
- Confirm the account ID on the receipt matches the box you are trying to recharge. Recharging a neighbour's Subscriber ID by typo is more common than you would think.
- Contact Paybeez on 8851461409 or support@paybeez.in with the reference number. Unresolved complaints can be escalated to grievance@paybeez.in.
- Signal, cabling and set-top box hardware faults are handled by the DTH operator directly, not by the payment platform.
Why recharge your DTH through Paybeez
Paybeez is a Bharat Connect (BBPS) recharge and bill-payment platform operated by BILLWING ESOLUTIONS (OPC) PRIVATE LIMITED. DTH is a recognised Bharat Connect biller category, which means DTH payments made here run through the NPCI-governed Bharat Connect network with a standard reference number and a defined complaint framework — not through an informal top-up channel.
- Five major DTH operators in one place, so you do not need a separate app per connection in a multi-operator household.
- Live pack data pulled per account, so you never choose from a price list that quietly went stale months ago.
- Every payment produces a receipt with a Bharat Connect reference number you can quote to the operator or your bank.
- DTH packs are looked up against your subscriber ID inside your signed-in account. Prepaid mobile recharge is the one flow that needs no sign-in at all.
- Paybeez Points are a non-monetary service credit inside the Paybeez app. They are not money, not a wallet balance and not a payment instrument, and they cannot be withdrawn.
- Recharge from the browser or from the Android app, Paybeez Recharge & Bill Pay, on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.paybeez.in
- Support is a real helpline: 8851461409, support@paybeez.in, and grievance@paybeez.in for escalations.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a DTH recharge take to reflect on my set-top box?
Usually a few minutes. The payment is confirmed instantly through Bharat Connect, and the operator then credits the account balance and restores the signal. If the box has been inactive for a while, it may need to stay switched on for a few minutes to pick up the refresh signal — or you may need to restart it once.
Where do I find my Tata Play Subscriber ID or Dish TV VC number?
Tata Play prints the 10-digit Subscriber ID under Menu > Help & Settings on screen, in the Tata Play app, and on every recharge SMS. Dish TV's 11-digit VC number is printed on the viewing card itself and on the sticker on the set-top box. Airtel Digital TV uses a 10-digit Customer ID starting with 3, and Sun Direct uses the Smart Card number printed on the card and box.
Do I need to create an account to recharge DTH on Paybeez?
Yes, for DTH. Packs are tied to your subscriber ID, so the DTH flow runs inside a signed-in Paybeez account and every payment lands in a history you can look up later. Prepaid mobile recharge is the exception — that works without an account.
My monthly cost is higher than the channel prices I selected. Why?
Because of NCF — the Network Capacity Fee. Under the TRAI tariff framework, operators charge a separate carriage fee based on how many channels are on your connection, plus applicable taxes, on top of the channel and bouquet prices. Removing channels you never watch can bring both the channel cost and the NCF slab down.
The money was debited but my TV still shows an error. What should I do?
First check whether the error is a payment problem or a signal problem. If the account balance has not updated, wait a short while for the operator's confirmation, then contact us on 8851461409 or support@paybeez.in with the Bharat Connect reference number on your receipt. If the payment genuinely failed, the amount is reversed by your bank to the original payment method over the usual banking working-day timeline. If the balance did update and the screen still shows no signal, that is a dish or cable issue and needs an operator technician.
Can I change my base pack while recharging?
No. A recharge adds balance to your DTH account or renews the pack you already have; it does not restructure your channel selection. Adding, removing or swapping channels and bouquets is done through the operator's own app, website or customer care, and the new selection then determines what your balance is consumed at.
What happens if I stop recharging my DTH connection?
The balance keeps draining daily until it can no longer cover a day's charge, at which point the service is temporarily suspended and an error code appears on screen. The connection is not deleted — recharging typically restores it. If you know you will be away for a long stretch, ask your operator about their temporary suspension or safe-custody option so the balance is not consumed while nobody is watching.
I have two set-top boxes at home. Do I need to recharge both?
It depends on how the operator has registered them. Additional boxes at the same address are usually set up as child connections billed against one parent account, in which case a single recharge covers the household. If the second box was bought separately with its own ID, it is a separate account and needs its own recharge. Check both IDs in the operator app if you are unsure.
Can I recharge a DTH connection that is registered in someone else's name?
Yes. You only need the account identifier — the Subscriber ID, Customer ID, VC number or Smart Card number. This is why the account ID is a more reliable input than the registered mobile number when you are recharging for parents or relatives. Always check the account name that comes back on screen before you pay, so you know you are crediting the right connection.
